Peladon Tales Classic Series DVD Box Set

BBC DVD have now revealed the cover for an upcoming DVD box set, entitled 'Peladon Tales', featuring two classic series stories of Doctor Who featuring the Ice Warriors on the planet Peladon. The box set consists of The Curse of Peladon, starring Jon Pertwee as The Third Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant, and The Monster of Peladon, starring John Pertwee as The Third Doctor and Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith. The synopses for both stories in the box set can be read below:

The Curse of Peladon
In the four-parter The Curse of Peladon (1972), the Doctor (Pertwee) finally seems to have escaped his exile to Earth when he manages to transport Jo (Manning) in the Tardis to the planet Peladon. The pair are mistaken for Earth delegates at a conference to decide whether Peladon should join the Galactic Federation, and discover that someone is attempting to use the legendary royal beast of Aggador to trigger off a war.

The Monster of Peladon
In the six-parter The Monster of Peladon (1974), the Tardis arrives on the Planet of Peladon half a century after the Doctor’s first visit. The planet has now become of great tactical importance because of its focal position between warring factions. The Doctor and Sarah (Elisabeth Sladen) have to act as peacekeepers between rival ambassadors and they must also find the truth behind ‘the spirit’.

Peladon Tales will be released across the United Kingdom and Ireland on the fourth of January 2010, being sold at a regular retail price of £29.99. An article explaining how both classic stories were restored for DVD can be read by clicking here. Will you be buying this Doctor Who box set when it is released next year?
