The Masque of Mandragora DVD

2Entertain have now revealed the cover for their upcoming DVD release of the Doctor Who classic series story, The Masque of Mandragora. The four-part story was first broadcast in 1976 and starred Tom Baker as The Fourth Doctor, and Elisabeth Sladen as his companion, Sarah Jane Smith. The cover of the DVD can be seen to the left, and the official synopsis for the story can be read below:

The TARDIS is temporarily captured by the Mandragora Helix, a spiral of energy with a controlling influence, at the centre of which the ship is infiltrated by a sparkling ball of energy.

The travellers then move on to the Dukedom of San Martino in Renaissance Italy, where the Doctor quickly realises that the Mandragora energy is loose. The energy enters an underground temple and reveals itself to the outlawed Brotherhood of Demnos, whose leader, the court astrologer Hieronymous, is instructed to make ready for Mandragora’s full appearance… there’s trouble ahead for the Doctor!

Doctor Who: The Masque of Mandragora will be released across the United Kingdom and Ireland on the eighth of February, being sold at a recommended retail price of £19.99. More details regarding classic series Doctor Who DVD releases will be posted here, on The Gallifrey Vortex, when made available.
