The first television trailer for the sixth episode of Doctor Who series five, The Vampires of Venice, has now began broadcasting on BBC One. The teaser runs for approximately twenty seconds and features clips from Saturday's next time trailer rearranged, along with some new previously unseen clips of vampires, The Doctor, Amy, and Rory. BARB, the Broadcasting Audience Research Board, have today released the overnight ratings for the fifth episode of Doctor Who series five, Flesh and Stone. According to the ratings, the episode managed to pull in 6.53 million viewers when broadcast on BBC One, with an additional 0.34 million viewers watching over on the BBC HD channel, bringing the overnight rating count to 6.9 million. This gives it 34% of the audience share, but it should be noted that the overnight ratings are not final, and that the accurate ratings will be released by BARB in a few days time. In addition to the overnight ratings, high amounts of praise for this episode has come from the press, with The Guardian calling it ‘the greatest episode of Doctor Who there has ever been'. After tonight's broadcast of Flesh and Stone, the next time trailer for the sixth episode of Doctor Who series five, The Vampires of Venice, was shown. The trailer, running for approximately one minute, sees The Doctor take Rory Williams, Amy Pond's fiancee, from his stag night for a travel to Venice where they discover vampires controlling the city. Earlier tonight saw the first U.K transmission of Doctor Who series five episode five, Flesh and Stone. The episode, starring Matt Smith as The Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, and Alex Kingston as River Song, saw the Weeping Angels stalk The Doctor, Amy, and River through the Byzantium and the maze of the dead.
