Last night, the fifth series of Doctor Who continued with it's second episode, The Beast Below. The episode, despite facing the hot weather outside across the United Kingdom and Ireland, strong opposition from television premieres and the football on other channels, managed to attract 6.4 million on BBC One, with a further 330,000 watching on the BBC HD channel. This brings the overall overnight ratings to 6.7 million, and gives Doctor Who 34% of the audience share, making it the most watched programme of the day. These overnight ratings are not completely accurate, and BARB will release the official ratings in a few weeks time, which will be posted here shortly after. Next week Doctor Who will face strong opposition again, with Britain's Got Talent returning on ITV One, but hopefully the return of the Daleks will give Doctor Who higher ratings. More will be posted.
