The Tenth Doctor's Last Adventures in HD

With David Tennant's final episode of Doctor Who as The Tenth Doctor being broadcast for the first time tomorrow, BBC HD will be hosting an afternoon of his last Doctor Who adventures in high definition. The afternoon of entertainment will begin at 1.40pm with the Sarah Jane Adventures two-parter, The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith, seeing the Doctor battle the Trickster. That will be followed by Planet of Dead at 2.35pm, guest starring Michelle Ryan as the Lady Christina De Souza, and then by it's accompanying episode of Doctor Who Confidential; Desert Storm. Then, the second Doctor Who special, The Waters of Mars, guest starring Lindsay Duncan as Adelaide Brook, will be shown at 4.35pm, with the third special, The End of Time part one, guest starring Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott, after at 5.40pm. This will all lead into the first transmission of The End of Time part two at 6.40pm, marking the end of The Tenth Doctor's adventures, also on BBC One.

Sarah Jane Adventures Series Four Confirmed

Yesterday, Russell T Davies, outgoing lead writer of Doctor Who, was interviewed on Who on Who?, a special one-off Doctor Who radio show on BBC Radio Two. Russell confirmed that the Doctor Who spin-off series, The Sarah Jane Adventures, will be returning for a fourth series at some point during 2010. Unfortunately, he did not reveal if Elisabeth Sladen, Thomas Knight, Anjili Mohindra, or Daniel Anthony, will be returning for the series, or if any regular writers or monsters will be coming back. The End of Time Part One Appreciation Index

BARB, the Broadcasters Audience Research Board, recently made the Appreciation Index available for the third Doctor Who special of the year, The End of Time part one. The special which was broadcast for the first time on BBC One on Christmas Day received an appreciation index of 87, the second highest appreciation index of the day, beaten by ITV One's transmission of Gladiators which was given an AI of 89. The final ratings for The End of Time part one will be released by the Broadcasters Audience Research Board shortly and will be posted here, on The Gallifrey Vortex, as soon as they are revealed. The End of Time Extended Next Time Trailer

Doctor Who: The End of Time part one received it's first American broadcast on Boxing Day, a day after it's first U.K transmission. BBC America's showing of the episode was, like the BBC One showing, followed by a trailer for The End of Time part two, but this time featuring many brand new clips. BBC Doctor Who Advent Calendar Day Thirty

With New Year's Day 2010 and the second part of The End of Time now only two days away, the BBC today updated their online Doctor Who Advent calendar, available exclusively on the official Doctor Who website, with it's thirtieth door. Today's door opens to reveal three Happy New Year cards, featuring The Doctor, Wilfred Mott, and The Master, that can be downloaded and printed out to give to family and friends. The End of Time Action Figures Confirmed

It has been confirmed in an advert featured in the latest issue of the Radio Times that a new wave of Doctor Who action figures have been produced by Character Options. The new wave of figures will consist of four characters from The End of Time; The Tenth Doctor, The Master, and two others that have not yet been revealed. The advert inside the magazine features a picture of The Doctor and The Master figures, both of which are new sculpts, but a clear picture of this advert has not yet appeared online. Pictures of the figures are expected to appear on various online retailers soon, and the pictures, along with more information, will be posted here, on The Gallifrey Vortex, when they are available. The End of Time action figures are expected to be released across the United Kingdom and Ireland at some point in early 2010, being sold at a regular retail price of £8.99.

Doctor Who Advent Calendar Twenty-Nine

With the new year and the second part of The End of Time only three days away, the BBC today updated their online Doctor Who Advent calendar, available exclusively on the official Doctor Who website, with it's twenty-ninth door. Today's door contains two brand new desktop wallpapers of The Tenth Doctor from The End of Time part two, coming in three different sizes to suit various computer screens. Inside today's door is a brand new installment of 'The Big Questions', a recurring and popular feature on the website firing questions at Doctor Who cast members. This time it is the turn of John Simm, the actor who is well known for his many roles in television, including portraying The Master in the Doctor Who series three episodes, Utopia, The Sound of Drums, and Last of the Timelords, and the recently broadcast Doctor Who special, The End of Time part one. The calendar was originally intended to run until Christmas Day, but it was recently confirmed that it would run until New Year's Day to count down to David Tennant's final episode as The Doctor, The End of Time part two. Inside today's door is a video featuring Bernard Cribbins, who features in both parts of The End of Time, singing a festive song. The End of Time Part Two Trailers and Clip

Last night saw the first ever transmission of The End of Time part one, the long anticipated Doctor Who special starring David Tennant as The Doctor, Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott, and John Simm as The Master. When broadcast on BBC One, the episode received ten million viewers, according to BARB, but it should be noted that these ratings are not final and that the correct ratings will be released shortly. The special was followed by the next time trailer for The End of Time part two, featuring many new clips from the episode, including one of The Doctor wielding Wilfred's pistol. The brand new trailer can be seen below:

As last night's Doctor Who episode revealed, the Time Lords will be returning for David Tennant's final adventure as The Tenth Doctor, which will see him regenerate into his eleventh incarnation, played by Matt Smith. Another trailer for the episode is currently airing on various BBC owned television channels, running for approximately forty seconds, and again, featuring many new clips.

The episode is also the last of Russell T Davies, who bought Doctor Who back to our television screens and has been lead writer of the show since 2005. The official Doctor Who website was updated earlier today with the first preview clip from The End of Time part two, featuring the lord president of the Time Lords on what is thought to be the final day of The Time War, the great struggle between the Time Lords and the Daleks. Christmas Day has finally arrived, meaning that Doctor Who: The End of Time part one will be broadcast for the first time tonight across the United Kingdom. The penultimate Doctor Who special stars David Tennant as The Doctor, Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott, and John Simm as The Doctor's reborn nemesis, The Master. Both The Doctor and The Master are desperate to escape death, so much so that they battle to the mysterious Immortality Gate as the Ood's prophecy begins to come true. The hour long festive episode will be broadcast at 6.00pm on BBC One and on the BBC HD channel, and will be followed by it's accompanying episode of Doctor Who Confidential, Lords and Masters, on BBC Three. Today is Christmas Eve, and with now only a few hours left until Christmas Day is here, the BBC have added the twenty-fourth door to their online Doctor Who Advent calendar, only available on the official Doctor Who website. Inside today's door is a brand new and exclusive video, based upon the Weeping Angels who appeared in the tenth episode of Doctor Who series three, Blink, and who will later appear in an episode of the show's fifth series which will begin in Spring 2010. The BBC Press Office recently released the official synopses for Allons-y!, a brand new episode of Doctor Who Confidential. This episode of Doctor Who Confidential will accompany the transmission of The End of Time part two and will feature interviews with the cast including David Tennant and Bernard Cribbins. Doctor Who Classic Series Figures Wave Two

Character Options have now unveiled the first images of their long awaited second wave of Doctor Who classic series action figures. The new wave of articulated action figures consists of (from left to right in the above picture), the Morbius creature from 1976's The Brain of Morbius, an Ice Warrior from 1967's The Ice Warriors, a Cyberman from 1982's Earth Shock, The Master from 1976's The Deadly Assassin, a Mummy robot from 1975's The Pyramids of Mars, and a green variant of a Voc robot from 1977's The Robots of Death. The first wave of classic series Doctor Who action figures were released last year and are still available to buy at various toy retailers along with two classic series Dalek sets, Forbidden Planet exclusive figures, and a Fourth Doctor figure set, including the green Voc robot and Mummy robot which will be released separately in the second wave. The second wave of classic series Doctor Who action figures are expected to be released at some point in January 2010 at an unconfirmed price.

Weeping Angels in Doctor Who Series Five

Steven Moffat, the man who will be taking over from Russell T Davies as the lead writer of Doctor Who next year, appeared on the BBC Radio Three show 'Night Waves' last night. On the show, Steven revealed that the Weeping Angels who were introduced and were last seen in the tenth episode of Doctor Who series three, Blink, will be returning in the fifth series of Doctor Who. The creatures who send their victims into the past and feed off the days they would have had were voted the scariest monsters in Doctor Who in a poll conducted by Doctor Who Adventures. With no more details given, it is currently unknown what episode the creatures will be appearing in, but details regarding their next appearance will be posted here, on The Gallifrey Vortex, when it is made available. The fifth series of Doctor Who sees Matt Smith take on the role of The Eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan take on the role as his companion, Amy Pond, and will be transmitted in Spring 2010.

Today, the BBC's official Doctor Who website was updated with the fourteenth door on it's Advent calendar. Inside today's door is two downloadable computer and Apple Mac screensavers, the first of which featuring pictures of every incarnation of The Master, and the second featuring many images from the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special, The End of Time part one. The screensavers can be downloaded inside the fourteenth door on the official Doctor Who website's Advent calendar by clicking here. The fifteenth door on the calendar will be available to open from tomorrow onwards, and some details regarding that will be posted here, on The Gallifrey Vortex, shortly after the new door is openable. Doctor Who Advent Calendar Day Thirteen

The BBC's official website for Doctor Who was today updated with the thirteenth door on their online Advent calendar. Inside today's door is the first part of a video, running for approximately two minutes, in which Louise Paige talks about working as costume designer on Doctor Who, and working with Billie Piper and Alex Kingston. The first part of the video can be found inside door thirteen on the official Doctor Who website's Advent calendar by clicking here, and the second part is expected to be released inside one of the remaining doors. Door number fourteen on the calendar will be made openable at some time tomorrow, and details regarding the content inside the door will be posted here shortly after. Inside today's door is a piece of unreleased music entitled 'The Wonder of Balloons' which was going to feature in last year's Doctor Who Christmas special, The Next Doctor, but never did. The music was composed by Murray Gold and can be seen inside today's door on the official Doctor Who website's online Advent calendar by clicking here. Doctor Who Magazine #416 Press Release

Issue four-hundred-and-sixteen of Doctor Who magazine was released on Thursday, and the official Facebook group for it has now been updated with the magazine's official press release. The December issue of Doctor Who Magazine previews The End of Time part one and part two, with exclusive interviews with David Tennant, John Simm, and Bernard Cribbins, who star as The Doctor, The Master, and Wilfred Mott in both episodes. BBC Doctor Who Advent Calendar Day Eight

The BBC today opened the eighth door on their online Doctor Who Advent calendar, due to the fact that today is the eighth day of December. Inside today's door is a video interview with Phil Ford who recently wrote the second Doctor Who special, The Waters of Mars, and the animated Doctor Who adventure, Dreamland. In the short video interview, Phil Ford is asked what has happened to The Doctor's one-off companions from Dreamland, Cassie Rice, as voiced by Georgia Moffett, and Jimmy Stalkingwolf, as voiced by Tim Howar. BBC Doctor Who Advent Calendar Day Seven

The BBC today opened the seventh door on their online Doctor Who Advent calendar, due to the fact that today is December the seventh. Today's door opens to reveal eighth wallpapers for your computer from The End of Time part one, featuring The Doctor, The Master, Wilfred Mott, and two spiky green aliens. Two of the desktop wallpapers can be seen below:

The End of Time part one is set for broadcast on BBC One on Christmas Day, beginning at 6.00pm, with the second part airing on New Year's Day at 6.45pm.

Inside today's 'door' on the calendar is an exclusive preview of the next issue of Time Out magazine, which includes ten different covers, featuring every incarnation of The Doctor from 1963 to 2009, and including an exclusive interview with Russell T Davies. BBC Doctor Who Advent Calendar Day Four

The BBC's official website for Doctor Who was today updated with the fourth 'door' of their new and exclusive annual Advent calendar. Today's 'door' on the calendar opens to four brand new Doctor Who themed Idents, which will be showed before various shows on BBC One across this year's festive period. Along with the Idents, today's surprise on the website also consists of a brand new desktop wallpaper, featuring the Doctor on top of the TARDIS being pulled along by Reindeer. BBC Doctor Who Advent Calendar Day Three

Earlier today, the BBC's official website for Doctor Who made the third 'door' on their Advent calendar available to open. Today's surprise in the Advent Calendar is a video going behind the scenes of the recent Doctor Who special episode, The Waters of Mars, to find out how Gadget, the robot of Bowie Base One, works. The video can be seen inside the third 'door' at the official Doctor Who website by clicking here, and the fourth 'door' on the Doctor Who Advent calendar will be available to see from tomorrow. The End of Time Broadcast Dates Confirmed

The BBC Press Office have now confirmed the dates of broadcast for the upcoming third and fourth Doctor Who specials, The End of Time. The first part of the story which will see the departure of David Tennant as The Tenth Doctor will be broadcast on Christmas Day, like previously rumoured, from 6.00pm until 7.00pm. The second part of The End of Time will be transmitted at 6.45pm until 7.55pm on New Year's Day 2010 despite the fact that the specials were up until now known as 2009 specials. Both Doctor Who specials will receive their transmissions on BBC One and on BBC HD, and more news regarding them will be posted here when it is available.
