Torchwood Series Four Confirmed?
Saturday, July 25, 2009
John Leeson to Voice K9
Russell T Davies Talks About Ianto's Death
“We don’t yet know about our fourth series, but I’m fairly confident,” he confirmed. ”I will just sit down and invent new stories and characters. That’s what I’ve spent my entire life doing. It’s not difficult at all. I could write the first 10 scenes in an episode right now. Everything’s looking good, but it’s hard to say. We’re in a recession so no one gets easy money to make television. I like continuous story. I like doing new things. In many ways, Torchwood was designed as a digital weapon. It’s a kind of multi-purpose, multi-adaptable, shape-shifting weapon that can become anything. I’m kind of excited what we’ll do next.”
The full interview can be read by clicking here at Entertainment Weekly's official website. Torchwood: Children of Earth is available on DVD and Blu-Ray across the United Kiingdom and Ireland now at the regular retail prices of £24.99 for the dvd and £29.99 for the Blu-Ray. What are your thoughts on this interview?
Torchwood: Children of Earth Final Ratings
- Day One - 6.47 Million
- Day Two - 6.14 Million
- Day Three - 6.40 Million
- Day Four - 6.76 Million
- Day Five - 6.58 Million
The overnight ratings released by BARB a day after each episode's original broadcast can be seen by clicking here in an older post. Exclusive Third Doctor Figure Sets
Doctor Who Magazine #411 Press Release
TOM BAKER TALKS EXCLUSIVELY ABOUT PLAYING THE FOURTH DOCTOR AGAIN – IN DOCTOR WHO MAGAZINE #411!
He’s back! The jelly-baby munching, boggle-eyed bohemian puts on his long scarf and floppy hat once more, as the legendary TOM BAKER returns to the role of the Fourth Doctor for the first time in over fifteen years! DWM talks exclusively and in depth to Tom about what made him come back to the role that made him famous, what he thinks of Doctor Who today and whether a meeting with the current Doctor could be on the cards. Tom also tells us what he thinks about these modern Doctors kissing their companions...
“Well, I don’t know how I would’ve done it,” Tom considers. “I suppose I would have made it extremely funny. Especially if I’d rescued the girl, and she’d kissed me, I would’ve been able to be absolutely astounded that she was pressing her lips on mine, thinking, ‘Oh, that was rather nice’ and then saying, ‘Would you like to do that again?’” He laughs. “But I don’t know. It was inconceivable during our time. We didn’t think like that. I played him entirely… I never did handle the girls. Or if I did handle the girls, I always did it clumsily, because I reasoned that the Doctor wouldn’t know about that.”

Doctor Who Series Five Filming Begins
A new Doctor, a new companion, a new era...
Production started today on the new series of Doctor Who, in which BBC One viewers will meet the 11th Doctor and his companion for the very first time.
The latest incarnation of the iconic character is played by Matt Smith (Party Animals).
Upon arriving on set in Cardiff, for his first day of filming, Smith commented: "I feel very privileged and proud to be part of this iconic show.
"The scripts are brilliant and working alongside Karen, Steven and the rest of the crew is an inspiration because their work ethic and passion for the show is so admirable.
"I'm excited about the future and all the brilliant adventures I get to go on as the Doctor."
Accompanying The Doctor on his further adventures in time is a new companion Amy Pond, played by Scottish actress Karen Gillan (The Kevin Bishop Show), who will first meet The Doctor in episode one of the new series.
New show-runner and long-running Doctor Who fan Steven Moffat has developed this series and, as Lead Writer and Executive Producer, will be responsible for the overall creative direction of the show, as well as plot and character arcs.
Moffat's previous episodes of Doctor Who, including the Bafta-winning episode Blink, have garnered widespread acclaim from critics and fans alike.
He commented: "And here it is, the big moment – the new Doctor, and his new best friend.
"And here's me, with the job I wanted since I was seven – 40 years to here! If I could go back in time and tell that little boy that one day all this would happen, he'd scream, call for his mum and I'd be talking to you now from a prison cell in 1969. So probably best not then.
"Matt and Karen are going to be incredible, and Doctor Who is going to come alive on Saturday nights in a whole new way – and, best of all, somewhere out there a seven-year-old is going to see them, fall in love and start making a 40-year plan..."
Piers Wenger, Executive Producer and Head of Drama, BBC Wales, added: "The scripts for the new series are every bit as funny, thrilling, scary and imaginative as you'd expect from the man who brought us The Empty Child and Blink.
"There's a strange and perfect alchemy between Steven and Matt Smith and the next few months are going to be riveting as that relationship starts to emerge on screen.
"Steven always says he's been waiting to do this job since he was seven. But it's actually the Doctor who has been waiting for him."
The new series follows three Doctor Who specials starring David Tennant which will transmit later this year.
Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning, says: "I am thrilled that a whole new generation of children will forever say that their Doctor was the wonderful Matt Smith."
The series was co-commissioned by Ben Stephenson and Jay Hunt, Controller, BBC One, and will be produced by Tracie Simpson (Doctor Who) and Peter Bennett (Torchwood).
Steven Moffat is Lead Writer and Executive Producer (Jekyll) with Piers Wenger and Beth Willis (Ashes To Ashes) also Executive Producing.
Doctor Who series five will be filmed in Cardiff until March 2010 and the latest filming news will be posted here as soon as it is available. The series will be broadcast on BBC One in Spring 2010 and will star Matt Smith as The Eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as his companion who's name has been revealed as Amy Pond. What are your thoughts on this Doctor Who series five filming news?

Kai Owen Talks Torchwood's Future
Waiting for the nod, hopefully it will be happening - nothing has been confirmed yet but I'd do it forever, it's a brilliant job. I mean, it gets better after that first episode as well, it makes you want to watch the other four and they get better and better and better, episode five is so phenomenal, so it's got to happen again. It was just lovely to work on one big storyline all the way through it.
