The Picture above was made by me.Forbidden Planet have now revealed the first images of the Doctor Who Sixth Doctor regeneration action figure. The figure is of the Sixth Doctor wearing The Fifth Doctor's clothes, shortly after his regeneration in The Caves of Androzani, a story that was first broadcast in March 1984. The Sixth Doctor regeneration figure was previously available to buy from Underground toys at San Diego Comic-Con 2009 but will now be available exclusively at Forbidden Planet stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The figure will be released at Forbidden Planet stores in the United Kingdom and in Ireland on the 12th of August and will be sold at the price of £14.99. At the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con, SciFi Collector sold a different variant of the Captain Jack Harkness Torchwood action figure which was packaged in wave two packaging and featured a dark blue shirt, rather then the light blue one that features on the normal wave one figure. SciFi Collector are now selling this figure online and a picture of it can be seen below:
A poster on the new Gallifrey Base forum recently claimed that they knew the titles for the final two Doctor Who specials which will be broadcast at Christmas time. The specials will see The Doctor fight The Master in a battle which will result in the death of The Doctor's tenth body and the regeneration into his eleventh. The forum poster is reporting that a friend of his was told by Russell T Davies at the 2009 San Diego Comic- Con convention that the third of the Doctor Who specials is entitled 'Nightmares Reign' and that the fourth and last of the specials is entitled 'The End of Time'. There is a possibility that these claims could be incorrect as no official confirmation has come but the titles will be posted here, on The Gallifrey Vortex, shortly after they are revealed. A new trailer for one of the final two Doctor Who specials was shown at this years San Diego Comic-Con convention yesterday. The new trailer reveals that one of the two final specials is entitled The End of Time and features many new clips of The Master who last appeared in the Doctor Who Series Three episode, Last of the Timelords. David Tenannt and Russell T Davies recently travelled to America to attend the 2009 convention of San Diego Comic-Con. At the convention, they showed a new trailer for this year's next Doctor Who special, The Waters of Mars, which includes new clips of Adelaide, The Doctor in his spacesuit, water creatures, the Mars base, and much more. After the high ratings of Torchwood's third series, Children of Earth, the BBC have now commissioned a fourth series of the show. The news was revealed by a BBC America representative at this year's Comic-Con convention in San Diego but no more information regarding the series was revealed. According to various sources, the BBC Press Office will be revealing a press release for the fourth series of Torchwood soon but no indication of when it can be expected was reported on. The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine reveals the name of the actor who will be providing the voice of K9 for the upcoming Australian series. John Leeson who has provided the voice of K9 in the classic and new series of Doctor Who has been named as the actor who will be voicing the new K9 in the new children's series, created by Bob Baker and Paul Tams. The new K9 series consists of twenty-six episodes and sees K9 and his new teenage friends; Starkey, Jorjie and Darius battle evil alien forces to save the world from destruction. Russell T Davies, the lead writer of Doctor Who and creator of Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures, was recently interviewed by Entertainment Weekly. BARB recently revealed the final and accurate ratings that Torchwood: Children of Earth achieved when it was broadcast on BBC One earlier this month. Lizo Mzimba, a BBC entertainment correspondent, recently revealed on his Twitter page that a special Doctor Who episode will be made for this year's Children in Need telethon. The Daily Mirror recently reported that the Children of Need special would introduce Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, encountering the previous ten incarnations of The Doctor, before he appears in the fifth series of Doctor Who. The report from The Daily Mirror has not been confirmed by the BBC so may be untrue, but the latest news regarding this year's Doctor Who Children in Need special will be posted here, on The Gallifrey Vortex, as it is made available.
The 20th of July 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, which saw Neil Armstrong land and walk on Earth's moon. To celebrate the anniversary of the event, the BBC's official website for Doctor Who is launching a new short story written by Oli Smith, entitled Blue Moon.
