David Tennant Chicago Tribune Interview
Why leave Doctor Who? What do you feel you've brought to it or left it with?
Oooh. It's very hard for me to answer that. It may be for others to answer and for history to dictate. I've had a wonderful time. I hope I'm leaving at the right time. I think you can overstay your welcome and I hope I'm not doing that. It's funny because it's difficult to leave something that you love so much and have such a great time with. It's hard to ever move away from. I could stay forever. I think it's always best to leave yourself and hopefully everybody else wanting more. I'm hoping I've done that and I'm hoping I'm leaving at the right time. As a rule, it takes an enormous infusion of creativity and energy and enthusiasm to do it justice. Which I've had, I think I've really enjoyed the last four years. And I'm quite happy to leave it still feeling that way, leave it before it starts feeling like a job. So it's probably not for me to say what I've left it with, but hopefully some stories that people will come back to and enjoy and feel very fondly about. I have such fond memories of watching Doctor Who when I was a kid and growing up, that if I've left anybody anywhere with memories as fond, then I feel like I've done my job.
Planet of the Dead will be broadcast in the U.S on the 26th of July on BBC America and the three other specials of the year will be broadcast at a later date. The full interview with David Tennant can be read by clicking here at the official Chicago Times website. What do you think of this new David Tennant interview?

Torchwood Magazine #16
It’s back!
Torchwood magazine returns for the last time before Children of Earth finally hits our television screens in July! We whet the appetite for the new series in the latest issue with more sensational coverage!
Exclusive collector’s edition!
Art of War!
It's more than just a TV show, you know! One of Torchwood’s biggest multimedia successes has been the Rift War saga, a 10-part comic strip that has featured in the pages of Torchwood magazine. Celebrating Titan Books’ release of the whole collection in one volume, we speak to the celebrated writers and artists behind the epic adventure. Paul Grist, Simon Furman, Ian Edginton and D’Israeli were already well known in the world of comics – in the latest issue they talk about applying their distinctive styles and bold, big-picture storytelling to the wonderful world of Torchwood.
John, Eve & Gareth on the new series
As Torchwood: Children of Earth gets ever closer, read what the stars of the show – John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd – have to say about the eagerly-anticipated new series! Still, that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the latest issue’s essential coverage of the show, as we bring you the second part of an exclusive photo collection direct from the set! Plus, find out what alien terrors lurk beneath the heavily guarded doors of Floor 13 in Children of Earth, as Torchwood magazine’s man on the inside makes a break from the gargantuan set with an exclusive production report!
Radio Time!
Following the success of Lost Souls, the one-off Torchwood adventure broadcast on Radio 4 last year, the Torchwood cast has been back in the studio to record three new audio adventures! The three plays are Asylum by Anita Sullivan, Golden Age by James Goss, and The Dead Line by Phil Ford. In the latest issue, Torchwood magazine editor Simon Hugo visits the studio to get the lowdown on the plays, and finds stories that span continents and concepts in ways that most TV shows can only dream of.
They Keep Killing Suzie
Torchwood magazine continues to look back at series one of the show with a unique guide to They Keep Killing Suzie. If the title rings a bell, that’s because it’s a riff on The Avengers story title, They Keep Killing Steed, in which the diabolical mastermind of the week tries to infiltrate a peace conference with doubles of John Steed. Plus, we interview one of the episode’s guest stars about the Torchwood experience – after playing a talking tree in Doctor Who, Yasmin Bannerman gave a memorable performance in They Keep Killing Suzie as the sharp-tongued Detective Swanson.

Torchwood Golden Age and The Dead Line
The Torchwood team head for Delhi on the trail of a dangerous energy field, in Golden Age, written by James Goss, the second part of this brand-new series of extraterrestrial investigations starring John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd. As the energy field grows once more, the team witness the simultaneous disappearance of hundreds of people and Jack discovers that the field centres on an old colonial mansion – Torchwood India. Shocked to find that Torchwood India is still going strong, since he shut it down himself more than 80 years ago, Jack is even more surprised to find that its members, including his old flame, the Duchess, haven’t aged a day.
The Dead Line
When a Cardiff hospital is inundated with patients who have fallen into coma-like trances, Torchwood moves in to investigate in the third part of this brand new series of extra-terrestrial investigations starring John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd. The trances appear to have been triggered by phone calls, all received on retro phones and made from a number that hasn’t been active for more than 30 years. Determined to find out who’s been calling the unfortunate victims, Jack rings the mysterious number – two, zero, five, nine. It seems to be a dead line … until Jack is called back. The third and final episode, The Dead Line, is written by Phil Ford.
