David Tennant to Play The Doctor in Movie?

It was recently revealed that BBC Films are currently developing a script for a Doctor Who movie. My Park Magazine are now reporting that David Tennant will be reprising his role as The Tenth Doctor for the movie although he will be leaving Doctor Who to work on other projects at the end of this year. A BBC Films insider was qouted in My Park Magazine as saying:

“The script is still in the early stages but he wants to be in the film. There have already been discussions and David needs to feel the story is right, but right now things are looking very positive. Potentially it’s a perfect scenario for him. He understandably wants to do different roles but still loves Doctor Who.“It’s certainly feasible that David could be the Doctor on film while Matt does the series. As all fans know David’s story can easily be set in a different time to Matt’s. That’s one of the great things about the show - anything can happen.”

The Twitter message from Lizo Mzimba that revealed that BBC Films are developing a script can be found by clicking here in an older post. More details regarding this possible Doctor Who move will be posted here as soon as they are made available. Would you like David Tennant to star in this possible movie?

The Doctor Joins Sarah Jane Press Release

The BBC Press Office have today issued a press release, confirming that The Tenth Doctor as played by David Tennant, will be starring in two episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures series three. The press release also confirms that the Judoon, the intergalactic rhinoceros-like police who featured in the Doctor Who series three episode, Smith and Jones, will also be appearing in the series. As well as being on the BBC website, the press release can also be read below:

Doctor Who fans are in for a treat this Autumn as David Tennant makes a special appearance as The Doctor in CBBC's hit drama series The Sarah Jane Adventures with a starring role across two episodes.

Investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith, one-time companion to that strange wanderer in time and space known as The Doctor, is reunited with her old friend as The Sarah Jane Adventures is back for a third series of alien-busting adventures on CBBC this September.

Elisabeth Sladen, who plays Sarah Jane, says: "When I heard the news that David was going to be joining us I was absolutely over the moon. Not only has it made my day but it will also make the viewers' day.

"It's fantastic news that Sarah Jane is going to spend some time working with The Doctor again and is testament to just how successful this CBBC series is."

Russell T Davies, Executive Producer of The Sarah Jane Adventures, adds: "Viewers thought they may have to wait until November for the next full episode of Doctor Who, but this is an extra special treat.

"And it's not just a cameo from David – this is a full-on appearance for The Doctor as he and Sarah Jane face their biggest threat ever."

The series includes 12 weeks of brand new adventures featuring a new alien race, the reptilian Veil and their enemies the Judoon, alongside an extraterrestrial girl that can make people play games against their will.

There will also be a living painting, the inhabitants of a supposedly haunted house, monsters who want to infect Earth with a strangely aggressive weed and a chance for Sarah Jane to find personal happiness with someone who could be the perfect person to complete her family.

Alongside adopted son Luke, Sarah Jane's team is made up of Luke's streetwise pal Clyde Langer, their schoolmate Rani, who lives opposite and has aspirations to become a journalist like Sarah Jane, and Mr Smith, their Xylok supercomputer up in the attic, plus Sarah Jane's robot dog, K-9.

According to Digital Spy, The Tenth Doctor will appear in the fifth and sixth episodes of the new series, which is set to be broadcast on BBC One and The CBBC Channel this Autumn. Issue 409 of Doctor Who Magazine, which will be released on Thursday, includes a news feature on this, in which Russell T Davies says: "Let's just say that the wedding of Sarah Jane will be a day for everyone to remember!" What are your thoughts on this Sarah Jane Adventures news?

Doctor Who Movie Script in Production

BBC Entertainment reporter and Doctor Who fan, Lizo Mizimba, recently commented on his Twitter page that BBC Films are currently developing a Doctor Who movie script. British newspapers and the media have recently been reporting that a movie is in production but no official confirmation has come from the BBC. Lizo Mzimba's Twitter message can be read below:

"BBC Films have confirmed a Dr Who film script is in development. But if it does go into full production that's likely to be some time away. So, to be clear, it's not guaranteed a Dr Who movie will be made. All BBC Films are doing is developing a script, before making a decision."

Although the script is in production, there is no guarantee that the movie will be made, but The Gallifrey Vortex will update with news regarding this possibility.

Eve Myles told the magazine that she has been pregnant for three and a half months and that her life as a mother will not affect her role as Gwen Cooper in Torchwood. Three extracts from Eve Myles' interview with "What's on TV" can be seen below:

"I've wanted to do this for such a long time, but I kept getting job after job after job. I thought, if I put this off any more I'm going to be 65. My partner and I decided this year was going to be the year, and we were blessed that it happened so quickly. It's the best thing that ever happened to me – we're over the moon. We went for a scan and my mum was there. And my mum went: 'No, it's not a Nostrovite! It's a real Welsh human!' But of course it crosses my mind – I hope it's not an alien! I hope we get a new series. I'd really like to play Gwen as a mother. It's not like I have to really save the world – I just have to sit in make-up!"

I would like to congratulate Eve Myles and her partner on Eve's pregnancy and wish them all the best for the future. Eve Myles will return to Torchwood as Gwen Cooper for a five episode series that will be broadcast across five consecutive nights on BBC One this June. What are your thoughts on this news?
